Đavolja Varoš, meaning Devil's Town, is a rock formation of about 200 earth pyramids or towers on the southwestern slopes of Radan Mountain in the Kuršumlija municipality of southern Serbia, near the village of Đake. The towers stand 2 to 15 meters tall on bases 4 to 6 meters wide across an area of about 0.67 square kilometers at roughly 700 meters elevation. Most are capped with andesite caprocks that protect the softer material beneath from erosion, and the formation resulted from intense erosion of volcanic soil following volcanic activity millions of years ago. It is described as having the most numerous and tallest such towers of any comparable earth pyramid formation in the world.
