Eldad Reef

Eldad Reef is a reef on the northeastern part of Tizard Bank in the Spratly Islands of the South China Sea, roughly 36 kilometers west of Taiping Island and about 54 kilometers from the Gaven Reefs. Rocks are exposed at high tide, a feature that under international maritime law entitles it to a 12 nautical mile territorial sea and contiguous zone. The reef is unoccupied but is claimed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Taiwan as part of the wider Spratly Islands dispute; its English name comes from Captain Eldad of the British ship Cacique, who recorded it in the 1868 China Sea Directory.
