Bajo Nuevo Bank

Bajo Nuevo Bank, also known as the Petrel Islands, is an uninhabited reef with a few grass-covered islets in the western Caribbean Sea. It is the subject of competing sovereignty claims by Colombia, Jamaica and the United States, and while the International Court of Justice ruled in 2012 that Colombia holds sovereignty over the bank, the United States continues to assert its own claim based on nineteenth century guano island legislation.
